Arani Cuthbert, the film’s producer, says, “The screening on Sunday night went down very well… about 600 people in a lovely old theatre, very much like a KIWI audience. This part of the US is so like NZ. Lovely to hear people laughing at all the right places, lots of wonderful comments afterwards.”

The Topp Twins and the APO 10/05/10

The Topps recent performance with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra at the Auckland Town Hall, was filmed for television and screened on TV3 last week. For those of you who missed it you can watch it online on TV3’s TV on Demand.

Performing with a full orchestra was a challenge for a couple of gals who don’t read music or know what a bar is, but everyone had a lot of fun. The show could be called The 3 Kenors as the conductor was called Ken too!

The online video is only available to NZ viewers but the show will be available as an extended version DVD in the near future so keep an eye out.

Make that ‘Prizes at Nashville’ 25/04/10

We blogged about winning a Prize at Nashville a couple of days ago and the votes are now in for the Audience Award which sees The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls tie for The Documentary Channel Audience Award for Best Documentary. Wahoo!

Excerpt from the press release:

Two documentary films already awarded prizes at the 2010 Nashville Film Festival (NaFF) tied for The Documentary Channel Audience Award for Best Documentary when the awards were announced last night at the Festival’s closing night party at the Cannery Ballroom. “For Once in My Life,” director Jim Bigham’s documentary profile of Miami’s Spirit of Goodwill Band, and “The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls,” director Leanne Pooley’s hysterical profile of the world’s only comedic, singing, dancing, lesbian, twin-sister country music duo, were both rated too high and too close to pick a clear winner. “For Once in My Life” had earlier won the Gibson Impact of Music Award for best music film; “The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls” was the Best GLBT film.

Thanks to everyone who saw the film in Nashville.
